Blackberry Q10
I was commissioned by why not associates to create the music and sound design for a series of web adverts for the new Blackberry Q10. The theme of the advert was formula one. I spent a day at the Mercedes racing team's HQ capturing sounds from their racing cars. Armed with microphones, a selection of beaters and a violin bow I began work hitting and bowing different racing cars collecting as many percussive and sustained tones as I could. I then took these into the studio and created a composition using these sounds.

Jane and Louise Wilson: Unreal Island
I spent a few wet and windy days at Orford Ness working with artists Jane and Louise Wilson helping them set up a series of installations. Oxford Ness is an small island (or spit) of the coast of Suffolk and for most of the 20th century it was used as testing site for top secret military experiments. It is now a nature reserve managed by the national trust.

BFi Sight and Sound
To celebrate Sight and Sounds 80th birthday and the unveiling of a new digital archive I was commissioned to create a piece of music for this cinema advert. I had used recordings from the BFi's own projector collection. A really lovely project put together by why not associates.

I have spent the last few months turning my garage into a Foley studio, designed by my friend Derek Renolds from Sudbury Sound Labs. Fully sound proofed and isolated from the outside world, I now have four Foley pits complete with rock mud and magnetic tape and trays of old junk....
