Design Council Living Well with Dementia

The Design Council in partnership with the Department of Health has funded and supported the development of five innovative new design solutions to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia. I worked on a series of short films with why not associates introducing these design solutions. I edited, mixed and for one film had to create Foley for a dog.

Yoda Vodafone

Part of the Vodaphone Yoda advertisement campaign I recorded the location sound, editied and provided the mix for a "The Office" style short film introducing Yoda as the new member on the Vodafone team. The film was commissioned by RKCRYR.

VSS Shopping Channel

I edited and mixed sound for the artist Sue Hewlett for Duckie’s Copyright Christmas show, based around the fictitious VSS Shopping Channel.

Rosie and Rivette

Sound design, edited and mixed a short film by Vito Maraula. A very cool Lynchian, film noir, opera, meditative, thriller!....

Dirt

I spent most of May working on Dirt, a feature length film by up coming director Daniel Fawcett. Really nice film, shot around a small Essex coastal village. Kind of a cross between Korine, Herzog and Jarmusch.... Music by Dead Rat Orchestra.

Garden Stories

I worked on a guerrilla film about gardening! Fly the on the wall film documenting the characters and stories central to a Cambridge University garden.

JOSEPH

Sound for a beautiful, odd short film about Joseph a lone musician living in Taos County, New Mexico. Directed by Andy Wilson who filmed it after a chance meeting with Joseph on Route 64.

Trust

Created and mixed sound for a new film by Runa Islam. Commissioned as part of the UN celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

HIGHWIRE

I created the sound for Highwire a new film by the artist Catherine Yass. A multi-screen film and video installation, High Wire was filmed at the Red Road housing scheme in North Glasgow when French high wire artist Didier Pasquette attempted to walk between three of the high rise tower blocks. The event turned out to be somewhat anti-climatic with high winds leading Pasquette to abandon his walk after several steps out onto the wire and, terrifyingly, retrace his path....



Originally shown at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow it has since be exhibited at the German Gymnasium in London and at the Whitworth in Manchester.

Lock

October 2006 I created and installed a multichannel soundtrack for "Lock" a new film by artist Catherine Yass. The film Projected in two parts on opposite sides of the gallery, with a "front" and "backwards" soundscore. The film was shot at the Three Gorges Dam in China's Yangtze River and the soundtrack was created from field recordings of these giant concrete locks. The film was previewed at Galerie Lelong New York.

SNOW QUEEN

Christmas 2005 saw my feature length debut as sound designer for BBC1's animated adaptation
of The Snow Queen. Animated and directed by Intro.
